According to the laws of the state, New York has defined animals as, "every living creature except a human being."
The Nassau County S.P.C.A.'s Division of Law Enforcement is comprised of both Humane Investigators, and New York State Peace Officers who enforce the Agriculture & Markets laws of the state. It derives its authority from a special act of the legislature giving its officers powers of law enforcement.
From pit bull and cock fighting, to domestic animal abuse and neglect, the Nassau County S.P.C.A.'s Division of Law Enforcement investigates, educates, and prosecutes any individual involved in cruelty towards animals.
